The Art of Terror written by Robert Cohen is a play about Renaissance politics and real time characters – Niccolò Machiavelli, Cesare Borgia and Leonardo da Vinci. First produced in Los Angeles, then Budapest and now entering Romania, Cluj-Napoca. Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527) lived in Renaissance Florence Italy as an official of the Florentine governement, responsible for city militia. Machiavelli was deprived of office in 1512 by Medici and was accused of conspiracy, arrested and tortured for some weeks. After his release, he retired from politics and started to study and write political philosophy. He wrote the famous book The Prince on military strategy and political philosophy.
